At HKUST MBA, student-driven club activities are highly encouraged and supported by the program. Our School hosts a number of student clubs which enrich the academic experience and build competencies and relationships beyond the classroom.
The introductions below give you a short overview of some of the initiatives this year and we encourage you to make use of the MBA Forum to reach out to the club leaders if you are interested in joining or leading one of them next year.

If you are interested in establishing new student clubs, you are suggested to make use of our MBA Forum to discuss with your peers and engage interested students in leadership team. You will be invited to provide a Club proposal for MBA Office to review in June/July 2011 (tentative).

HKUST MBA では、学生のクラブ活動が活発に行われており、MBA Office でもその取組みを支援しています。現在、数多くのクラブが存在し、アカデミックな経験を充実したものにしたり、教室の外での専門性を深めたりより強固な人間関係を構築するの役立っています。2010年に存在したクラブを簡単に紹介します。もちろん新しくクラブを設立することも可能です。


Business Simulation and Strategy Club

Club Mission

  • 楽しくて意味のあるクラス後の社会環境(social environment)を提供すること
  • ビジネスに関係するソフトスキルをカジュアルな環境で提供し修練する機会を提供すること

Objectives

  • 最新で最も人気のある中国のソーシャルアクティビティとゲームを促進すること
  • クラブメンバに、ソーシャルアクティビティとシミュレーションゲームをとおしてソフトスキル(対人、コミュニケーション、分析、英語、中国語、トレーディング、ネゴシエーションなど)を試す機会を創出する
  • 一緒に楽しんで、メンバー間の関係を強固にする
  • 他のMBAクラブと協力して、様々なMBA活動を支援する

Objectives of the Club
  • 私たちはHKUSTのコンサル業界における人材育成所としの地位を向上させたいと思っています。私たちのビジョンは1人のメンバーに対して、1つのインターンシップオファー、そして就職のオファーです。

Objectives of the Club
  • HKUST Dinnerクラブは教育、ネットワーキング、社会活動にフォーカスしています
  • 主要な目的は、香港で食べられる世界中の料理をつうじて、MBA学生の連携強化と教育を促進することです。食べ物に紐付けて文化と歴史を学ぶことで、学生間、学生と香港の他の専門家との結束を強化します。

Emerging Markets Club
Mission & Objective
  • 世界経済における新興市場の問題、文化、そして影響を理解することで、新興市場と新興市場でのキャリアに感心のあるHKUSTの学生の教育し必要な知識を提供すること
  • クラブのスコープは中国に限定するものではなく、インド、ブラジル、ロシア、タイ、フィリピン、ベトナム、メキシコ、台湾、東ヨーロッパなどにも着目します

The Energy Alliance @ HKUST strives to bring together stakeholders ranging from business leaders and energy developers to equity players, financing institutions, policy makers and technologists and also strives to provide a deeper understanding of the energy industry. Our visions rest on three main pillars:
  • Promoting Knowledge Sharing
  • Promoting Career Perspectives & Networks
  • Promoting a Sustainable Energy Mix
The Energy Alliance focuses on the energy mix as a whole with an emphasis on renewable energy. The Energy Alliance has a business mindset focused on business development, investment activity, technological trends, and entrepreneurial activity. The primary objective is to develop and provide a valuable network and knowledge base to maintain beyond the MBA.

Mission & Objectives
  • The Finance Club increases your awareness to the complexities of the finance world: via informative industry talks, discussion forums and formal visits to key investment banks.
  • The Finance Club ensures you gain financial experience: via competitions simulating real-world experiences in M&A, portfolio management, sales and trading, and research; arranged company/factory visits and casual chats with insiders; and involvement in investment tours/conferences.
  • The Finance Club prepares you for a potential career in finance: via job hunting consultations, mock interview training and CV reviews sessions, and a myriad of networking opportunities

  • Our mission is to share insight into Japanese culture and to provide members with tangible experiences that are relevant for future Japanese interactions – whether business or personal.
Objectives of the Clubs
  • The main objective of Japan Club for the MBA student body is twofold – one, to educate fellow students on Japanese culture, language and business, and two, to assist students to connect with various leading Japanese firms and to seek possible business opportunities where relevant.

Mission
  • To create a platform to share industry knowledge and secure career opportunities in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries for HKUST MBAs.
Objectives
  • Share industry trends through round-table events with classmates and experienced industry veterans
  • Connect with EMBAs, PTs, SZs classmates and alumni through social activities
  • Understand the know-hows of the industry operations by participating in site tours in local and near-by businesses (i.e. Science park or Shenzhen companies)

Club Mission
  • Through regular meetings, workshops and evaluations, HKUST MBA Alumni Toastmasters club fosters effective speaking, listening, critical thinking and leadership skills in members from HKUST MBA Community in a risk-free, high-impact and mutually-supportive environment.
Objectives of the Clubs
  • Learn theories of leadership and communication from proven and well-structured educational materials.
  • Practice communication and leadership skills through completing projects with well-defined objectives, and be given constructive yet encouraging feedback.
  • Learn practical tips on effective communication and leadership from monthly skills development workshops, conducted by professionals, industry experts and experienced Toastmasters.
  • Build a networking platform among constituents of the HKUST MBA community, upon which members share a common vision of enhancing their leadership and communication skills.

Wine Society
Club Mission
  • to provide interested students with an enhanced knowledge and appreciation of wine through educational and social events
Objectives
  • Improve members’ knowledge of wines and encourage members to distinguish between wines from different grapes. Considering the growing importance of networking events, client entertainment and other work related social events, we believe a basic understanding and appreciation of wine is important.
  • Encourage social cohesion within the class in a relaxed, informal atmosphere, providing an alternative platform to classroom discussions
  • Promote communication between professionals in Hong Kong working in industries of most interest and the MBA cohort.
